Candive, my video editing buddy in Belgium has the Mini 4 Pro. He said he was up and flying in a few minutes, but he watched tutorials to make sure he was doing things right. If he can do it, I know I can. And you are right, they are making them "brain dead" easy to fly. That question is, which one to get. As for action cams, I've looked that the Chinese knockoffs, and their image quality isn't as good as a GoPro or DJI. GoPros have had lots of issues reported on the internet. Also, many many years ago, I had a Hero 2 Outdoors, with the additional LCD screen. $500. It flooded on a dive in the Adriatic Sea. Contacted GoPro, got several emails that didn't help, and I asked if I could send it in and that I would buy a replacement at a discounted price. Never got an answer. So crossed them off my list. This was when GoPro was taking off all over the place. They got too big, and customer service failed me. I have a DJI gimbal that just works.

tonyp, GoPro has been getting some bad press for malfunctioning. In some cases, particularly the heat tests, I think the results are unjustified. Youtube reviewers will leave the action cams turned on, sitting on a table inside a house with no air circulation. Typically the GOPro will overheat first and shut down. That is not a real life situation. Typically you are using the camera outdoors, on a mountain top skiing, hiking, surfing or underwater. Overheating isn't an issue unless you are filming in Egypt or the Australian Outback. Even then there is probably a bit of wind or cooling created by movement. One of the unfortunate outcomes due to cost cutting, overheating, longer battery life and competition is the exclusion of GPS and other sensors. The GoPro 11 was the last unit to have GPS. DJI never had it. My Olympus Tracker has everything; GPS, a barometer/altimeter, depth meter, accelerometer and temperature. Its nice to know when you video a pod of whales passing by where in the middle of the ocean that occurred. So if I have to upgrade, the GoPro 11 may be a consideration. I could source GPS by other means but its nice to have it built in the camera. Then you have the 360 cameras that capture everything. You'll never miss that shark that is casually following behind you!

I've also considered the Insta360. But for me, first the drone to get shots that I can't get. And then maybe an action cam. We plan on kayaking when the weather gets warmer. I'll consider what to choose when that time comes. But the Insta does some amazing shooting.
