I have NewBlue Stabalizer on PS26 that was transferred from PS23. When I run the stabilizer, there is a button to register the product. When I hit the button, I get a whole bunch of script errors. After closing about a dozen of these error messages, the system allows me to register and says it will send me an email with a link to confirm. I receive the email and it says "thank you for registering" but there is no confirmation link. So the product doesn't register.
Has anyone had this issue registering NewBlue Stablalizer?

You'd better contact NewBlue Support directly.

Thanks saby, I'll reach out to them and report back. After I posted my question, I installed PS23 on another machine thinking that maybe I had to register using PS23 rather than PS26 but the same thing happened.

Candive, NBFX has fairly responsive in answering. But I tried NBFX Stabilizer a couple of times many years ago, and it was, at least for me, painfully slow. Having Videostudio Pro and Mercalli was a better solution.

"For Laughs" I tried the same as I had never used NB Stabilizer on this PC
Got exactly the same outcome - a ton of script errors, then when eventually able to send name and email, got the same empty "thanks for registering" reply with no activation code or link
Looking more closely at the pile of script errors; some appear to be related to NewBlue serving an Ad in the top part of the "register" dialogue, whereas others do appear to be related to the registration attempt itself as they have referencse to the product/licence. Hopefully NewBlue will be forthcoming with a fix

I vaguely remember also, that the "Step 1: Analyze button never appeared.

Hi RicRoller , Thanks for taking the time to confirm that the issue is not isolated to my machine. I've placed a support ticket with NewBlue and they responded with the following and it looks like I will have to explain the stabalizer came with Pinnacle23; "I'm sorry for the inconvenience but unfortunately Stabilizer isn't compatible with Corel products. This might be something we change in the near future but as of now they're not compatible unfortunately. Although I've heard some users have gotten it to work. What you're seeing looks like an error trying to pull up a website. Is the product registered and activated on your newBlue application manager?" tonyp thanks for recommending Mercalli - I didn't think of it. At the time I was playing around with Vegas Pro 19 and decided to use its stabilizer on the clip. It looked pretty good so I exported it and used it in Pinnacle to complete my project.

I've used Vegas stabilization for minor stabilizing and it was quite good. I do have also Mercalli V5 Suite for Vegas and the standalone Mercalli V6. Fortunately, the IBIS in my camera, along with the DJI gimbal I use, keeps things pretty smooth when I need it.

At the time I was playing around with Vegas Pro 19 and decided to use its stabilizer on the clip. It looked pretty good so I exported it and used it in Pinnacle to complete my project. FWIW I played a little further; with the Stabilizer UI open, at the top I clicked the 'i' (info); that produced a little dialogue showing the version number etc., there was also a "check for updates" button.
That button led me to a download of an updated installer 'NewBlueStabilizer-231017.exe'. Although that version did install and has plugin support for Pinnacle Studio (but the .fex and .fxt files must be manually copied into place), it won't run in trial mode and needs a serial number entry to banish the watermark. But no web page errors on installation or in the 'application manager'...
BTW the old NewBlue plugins bundled with Studio 23 and earlier don't appear to have an equivalent of that 'application manager'; IMO they shouldn't need it as they ought to have an internal license tied to that version of Pinnacle Studio - and not need any registration/activation by the user. (The Video Essentials plugins do seem to behave that way).
Regards, Richard

Hi RicRoller , I followed your instructions and achieved the same results. I'm going to pass this onto NewBlue Support and wait for their response. Thank you once again for digging into this.

tonyiom, saby , tonyp , RicRoller Hi everyone, Just an update regarding my experience with NewBlue Support and the NewBlue Stabilizer. First let me say that NewBlue Support was excellent and they did their best to resolve my issue. They provided me with a free licence to the Stabilizer. Unfortunately it just did not work. According to the release notes (see below) the stabilizer is suppose to work with Pinnacle and Videostudio. I extensively tested the stabilizer on PS23, PS26, VS2023, Windows 11 and 10. They provided two different versions of the stabilizer for me to test but either the plugin didn't appear in the effects menu, or it was available but wouldn't load or the analyze button was missing (in the case of Videostudio). In the end, I provided NewBlue Support with all my test results and Support said they were sorry the plugin didn't work and would pass my findings back to their development team for review. Support promised me that they will contact me if and when the development team fixed the NewBlue Stabilizer. If you want to use the NewBlue Stabilizer in Pinnacle, you can; just don't click on the "Trial - Click here to Activate" button. I tested the NewBlue Stabilizer and the Pinnacle Stabilizer versus Mercalli Pro 5 and Mercalli RT that comes with Videostudio 2023 Ultimate. Mercalli is a superior stabilizer compared to the other two. Mercalli Pro conducts its analysis of the video clip much faster and it also has fisheye correction for action cameras built-in which is great for me since I use action cameras extensively. Also Mercalli RT (Real Time) does not require any analysis of the video clip, so no wait time and the stabilization results are excellent. So if you need to stabilize your video, my recommendation is to use Mercalli. You can purchase it from proDaD although that may be expensive or purchase it as an addon plugin to a video editor. You can conduct the stabilization in these editors and export the file to be imported into Pinnacle for further editing. As mentioned, Videostudio 2023 Ultimate offers Mercalli as well as Magix Movie Studio 2024 Ultimate. They are about the same price but Magix Movie Studio current offering has more 3rd party plugins so its probably the better deal.

Yeah, I would look to either Videostudio Pro (which is no longer under development) or Magix Movie Studio Ultimate with all those proDAD plugins including Meracalli V6. But it's always best to not have to use it. Learning to set yourself up as a "tripod" is something that all camera people know how to do. Candive, have you used the Wide angle lens correction in PS?

Hi tonyp , Action cameras themselves have very good electronic image stabilization (EIS); its usually the odd shot that needs to be stabilized in post. But the other day, I set my camera to HDR mode forgetting that it turned off EIS and I was surprised how shaky hand holding a mini action-cam can be; unlike a standard size camera or camcorder. So I now have a whole set of clips that need to be stabilized. I use the wide angle lens correction in PS and VS and they are very good. One enhancement I would like is to be able to save profiles once you tweak the settings. The work around is to save the settings along with a short clip in Collections called "Lens Corrections" and you move the clip to the timeline and copy its attributes to the other clips. Unfortunately you can not copy the attributes from the clip in the library and paste them on the clip on the timeline. You have to copy the entire Lens Correction clip to the timeline and then copy its attributes. Then delete the Lens Correction clip from the timeline. A bit of a pain but do-able. I think I got this idea from Jeff Naylors book. Thanks jeffjn !

Candive I haven't used an action cam in years. Considering getting one, but am not willing to spend GoPro/DJI/Insta money for it since will be of limited use. It has it's place for sure, but a drone would be much better for me.

Well tonyp , if you ever hit the water again, I highly recommend an action cam. I mainly use mine for diving but now I tend to take it with me wherever I go. I could use my phone but my phone contains a lot of very important information and I don't want to drop it or get it wet. I would never buy an underwater case for my phone and use it as a dive computer and/or camera. I would buy a waterproof case to protect it topside but never take it into the water. Too risky for me. On the other hand, my action cam can take a beating so I have no problem taking it bush walking or too the beach. If it gets lost or breaks, I just lost video - no big deal. I haven't upgraded for a number of years. Just waiting for DJI to come out with a one inch sensor. They've done it for the Pocket 3 so I suspect this year they will do it for the Osmo Action 5. Then again, I'm a bit tech conservative so I would probably still wait another year until version 6 to ensure they got all the bugs out. I agree, a drone is in my Santa list too. Its finding the time to learn how to fly the darn thing although that seems to be getting easier with the preprogrammed features...but we are getting off topic so I'm going to start a new post!
