Hi I have been using PS22 and decided to try PS26.
I mostly edit long form projects and encountered a number of issues with PS26 that made it unusable. After working with Alludo/Corel Support the issues could not be resolved so I requested a refund at the end of 30 days and need to uninstall PS26U.
One of the issues is that most of the transitions did not work in PS26. The GeForce 1650 graphics driver was updated as part of the troubleshooting process.
Now, when opening existing PS22 projects in PS22 the transition issues also exist in PS22 which was not the case previously. It's unclear to me if this was caused by the PS26 installation or the graphics card driver update.
Before rolling back the driver I was going to try something that I recall from years ago and that is renaming a file somewhere in the Programs folder and letting that file rebuild.
Q1 Pls let me know which folder needs to be re-named to trigger the re-build the transitions and effects Q2 How to uninstall PS26U without impacting PS22. Can I uninstall the program and then delete the PS26 folder in the Programs folder. It contains an updated version of Pinnacle MyDVD. Does this need to be retained/moved or should I remove it and re-install the MyDVD s/w that came with PS22.
Any assistance would be much appreciated.
It was probably a silly decision to try and update to PS26 as PS22 was working fine for my editing needs.

Hello.
A1 : For a complete reset of PS26, rename this folder C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\Pinnacle_Studio_26\Studio to C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\Pinnacle_Studio_26\Studio.old A2 : Uninstalling PS26 should not impact PS22
What transitions don't work ?

Thanks Saby.
After further investigation all the transitions in the following categories no longer work in Studio 22:
HFX Volume 1 HFX Volume 2 HFX Volume 3 Hollywood Fx for Studio
They worked fine before I installed PS26.
I had been using the transitions set up in my Favorites so didn't realize that the problem involved only these 4 categories.
When I renamed the Studio_22 folder by adding ',old' none of these transitions were present when I re-started Studio 22.
Please let me know if there is a way to try and restore these 4 categories of transitions. Updating the graphics driver is possibly the cause?
When playing these transitions, the pre-view window is BLACK and when placing them on the timeline they flicker black when played.
None of the HD transitions work but I've never used them so don't know if this is normal. They all simply fade A to B in the preview window like the standard Fade transition.
Separate PS26 Issue:
After uninstalling PS26 the C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\Pinnacle_Studio_26 folder is still loaded. Can it be deleted? The transitions issue above is one of a number of reasons for requesting a refund for PS26. Other issues included: - Lagging and erratic scrubber on larger projects - Lagging when adding/maintaining effects - No indication of changes to clips (eg: no pink line when P&Z added) - Unable to adjust length of Smartsound tracks on the timeline without returning to SFP. Time consuming trial and error needed to get a precise length. These issues make editing large projects very slow. For me, creating smaller projects as a workaround makes editing more difficult as I move slips all the way along the timeline.
Sorry, I'm not sure if separate issues should have been raised as they all seem to relate to the PS26 installation.

So, basically, HFX is not working. I'm not surprised that if you have the issue with PS26, it's the same with PS22 since the HFX programm is the same in both versions. Do you know where the CONTENT folder of Pinnacle Studio is in your computer ? Should be something close to C:\Users\Public\Documents\Pinnacle\Content\ If you find it, there should be a HollywoodFX subfolder inside. Open it and launch the Easy_FX.exe file located in this HollywoodFX subfolder. You should get this : Are the transitions displayed correctly ?
Do you get this warning ?
Yes, you can delete it. It is not deleted by the uninstallation prrocess.

Tks Saby
Easy_FX.exe
When I run the Easy_FX.exe file it opens with a blank screen and immediately shuts down. I cannot find a way to keep it open.
HD Transitions
There is no error message displayed. They all work and display the same - Fade from A to B like the 2D Fade transition, there is no graphics, just the fade.
To try and eliminate the graphics driver update as the problem I tried the Scorefitter audio files. I rarely use them as I have Smartsound. None of the Scorefitter files have any sound so looks like possibly something to do with the PS26 install. PS26 seemed to install OK and I don't recall any problems.
In the Win10 Control Panel > Programs list the following are duplicated. One for the PS22 installation date and one for the PS26 installation date. The PS26 items were not removed when PS26 was uninstalled:
- Pinnacle Creative Pack Volume 1 - Pinnacle Creative Pack Volume 1-3 - Pinnacle Premium Pack 1-2 - Pinnacle Scorefitter V1-2 - Pinnacle Standard Content Pack - Pinnacle title Extreme
These are the only remaining programs listed with the PS26 installation date. Most display a later version number than those with a PS22 installation date.
Should I try to uninstall these 6 X PS26 programs and see what happens?

Hi Saby
Update after deleting the C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\Pinnacle_Studio_26 folder.
Two things happened after the PS26 folder was deleted:
1. The Smartsound icon disappeared from the menu in PS22. 2. PS22 immediately shuts down when I click the Scorefitter icon on the menu.
I Restored the folder from the Recycle Bin but both issues persist.
It appears that there is some connection between PS22 and the uninstalled PS26.
As far as I am aware the only way to restore the Smartsound icon would be to uninstall and reinstall PS22. I guess I should make sure that any leftovers from PS26 are removed before reinstalling PS22.
Please let me know if there is a better way forward and how any leftovers from PS26 can be identified and removed.

Before uninstalling PS26 and making the changes as above I created a Restore Point.
So now back to square one and trying to find a way forward that will uninstall PS26 without further impacting PS22. PS22 still has the HFX and Scorefitter issues as before that appear to have been caused by the PS26 installation. The Smartsound icon is restored in the PS22 menu.

I guess the best option will be to completely uninstall both PS22 and PS26 and then reinstall PS22. PS22 has become unstable since the restore and has crashed many times when editing clips.
To enable a couple of editing projects to be completed before further changes can you suggest how I might try to recover the HFX transitions in PS22?
Sorry, I've been moving a bit quick and not waiting for answers to each post.

Since the beginning of this thread the behavior of Studio and HFX on your computer is against any logic. The only advice I can think about would be to call an exorcist.
More seriously, except uninstall/reinstall PS22 from scratch, I have no better idea. Sorry.

Thanks Saby
That is the only solution I can see. I guess it best to ask Corel/Alludo if they have a registry cleaner for PS26 to make sure it is completely removed.
Thanks again for your assistance and advice.
