Here are some solutions. First open the sample project:
If there is no sound, does the general audio meter in the timeline move?
If it doesn't move, the only possible explanation is that the sound of the timeline tracks has been muted:

If it moves, either sound is set to 0 in viewer window:
Or it is muted:
Or Windows did the same with the Pinnacle Studio slider in the audio volume mixer. Right-click on the speaker icon at the bottom right of the taskbar + open the volume mixer:

Check that the slider corresponding to Pinnacle Studio is not at zero:
Or muted:
Let's go back to the top of the topic. If the sample project has sound and your project does not: • Studio does not know how to decode the audio stream of the videos you put in your project and it is likely that there is nothing you can do about it • or your project has the sound of the timeline tracks muted:
If none of this worked, I've encountered cases where closing/reopening Studio got things back to normal.
