Hi hier.

Sad but true. But today I had this advertisement in my email inbox. The sale (clearance sale?) is still working.

My thoughts on Alludo. The software is sitting on servers, they aren't paying anyone to do anything with it, so they are spamming emails with "specials" for products that have seen basically zero development in over 1.5 years, and no prospect of any future development on them. Artlist did the same thing with FXHome (Hitfilm). They made a LOT of promises and never delivered. Then they removed the user forums, have scant social media presences and riding on the past name recognition of Hitfilm to get more money with no real development. A lot of people that might consider buying these products do not, or are not capable of doing their "due diligence" to see what has been going on with the software. Alludo is getting what it can, will try and sell off the carcasses of the software to someone, and then move on to the next company in trouble.
If PS is bought, it will be so far behind, why would anyone consider buying it, when there is so much free software out there. Without a total rewrite of the coding in PS, it doesn't stand a chance in the video editing space.
As I've wrote before, I would love to be proven wrong concerning PS/VS/PSP, but for me, the glass is 1/2 empty and is down to its last drop.
I had high hopes for PS. That it would be developed and become a real enthusiast editor. Such was not the case.

I can only speculate as to why Alludo closed the Corel user forums. I suspect that Alludo wanted to control the narrative in terms of public speculation of the future of the Corel products and protect their brand. It didn't appreciate the enthusiasm and loyalty to their software and therefore didn't anticipate the user base to create their own forums. Thanks again to Bob Keen for taking this initiative. Some have suggested that the action taken by Alludo is part of a strategy to reintroduce the products under a subscription basis. I personally don't believe it since if this was the case, the user forums would not have been shut down. As an investment you would think that Alludo would want to maximize its returns. New sales will dissipate during 2024 if the products are not further developed. Both Video Studio and Paint Shop Pro have the year 2023 in their brand names. Typically consumers want to purchase new products, not old ones, so I anticipate sales really dropping off by the end of this year. The next Black Friday sales will truly be dark for this software. I suspect Alludo has been, and currently is, looking for a buyer since the company itself has really changed its focus. It is now more focused on productivity tools like Parallels which is a remote access system and Mind Manager which is a project management tool as well as Winzip. Compare this to a company like Magix, who entirely focuses on videos, photos, sound and music. So with this new corporate focus, a new buyer willing to further develop the Corel products is a win/win solution. Alludo makes a return on their investment and the user base continues to enjoy the software. With the advent of artificial intelligence (AI) video/music editing and production has entered into a new era which requires further investment and programming of these Corel products to remain competitive. Obviously Alludo couldn't justify the cost to take these products into the AI realm, particularly when competing products are being offered for free. While there are competing products to use, I'm a little biased and my preference and loyalty is still with Pinnacle Studio and Video Studio. I hope these products can be salvaged along with the other Corel products but if this is not the case, I will use the software as long as it suits my needs. As they say, "We live in interesting times" so I look forward to the future of our little video hobby.

But something completely different. It's your nickname "Candive" . Is it a real name? If so, forget everything else .
I'm just rambling to myself. Candive=can dive or I can dive. Are you a scuba diver? If so - no wonder. Australia - great barrier reef - underwater videos. Is it like this? Consider everything offtopic .

Candive stands for Canadian Dive (scuba indeed).

@h.j.wolters and saby , Essentially, you are both right. It is my nickname on the internet and it pertains to my sport/hobby scuba diving. As saby has indicated, I am a Canadian who scuba dives. If I join a new forum or need to create an account for a website and the name is already taken, I will use CandiveOz which refers to a Canadian diver living in Australia. But as I get older, the meaning of the nickname is slowly changing to "I can still dive!" One day I'll have to change my nickname - Cannolongerdive.

I see it like Candive and PS is the favorite for my needs. I use a lot of other applications to prepare the video clips, photos and sound for the final video editing with PS and I'm quite happy with this way of working. Before I wish for PS to be developed further, it would be more important to fix bugs and eliminate inconsistencies in the way it works. But that's the rub, the program code would have to be completely reprogrammed. This is certainly not going to happen. I could imagine to help those who want to continue working with PS and to collect hints with workarounds for errors here in the forum (create a "Known Error Database"). However, I do not know if this is legally possible or even desirable. In addition, this would require an "internal" discussion, as installations and usage of PS are so different that this cannot be decided by only one. Further, most of the users edit with older versions. Or a frequently asked questions section, as a result of the extensive discussions in which it is difficult to find anything.

I think that it's a great idea. "Bugs" that have been publicly reported that have workarounds. One thing that is good about the forum software, even though I don't speak German, the software translates everything into English for me!

Hi. Danke euch .

Hi. Well, that was a direct hit. However, I missed one shot. I thought you were Australian. So not a famous home reef . Today this nickname “Cannolongerdive” would suit me well. In > click< there is a short film from my UW time. The actress and buddy is my wife.
Once Upon a time.
Your video from the 70's is very impressive! I can see you put a lot of work into it. It was a real challenge in those days to film or photograph underwater. Well done!! I usually take underwater video to help promote my scuba club; the Ryde Underwater Club. We have a face book page where I post most of my work. Here is a link to a dive we conducted with the Gordon's Bay Scuba Diving Club. They maintain an underwater chain trail of the Bay. If the chain gets covered in sand, you follow the underwater buoys. The video was shot with an Olympus TG Tracker and edited with Pinnacle Studio. fb.watch/qwD1hHg_z3/

I agree with tonyp, the forum is great in that I can read all posts and respond in English regardless of the language boards. I wonder if the moderators want to rethink on simplifying the forum? I think the FAQ and Workaround sub-boards created by Hansi is a great idea but these sub-boards are applicable to everyone so do we need to create the same sub-boards in the English and French boards or do we just create one multilingual Forum and everyone can post and respond in their own language since the forum allows us to do it. Ironically, I think I now have more posts in the German forum than I do in the English one!!

I would say yes, keep the foreign language boards. If someone comes in and only sees a language they don't speak represented, they might not participate. This way, they can until they learn the forum software.
